A Closer Look at the Hybrid Car Market
A look at the light-vehicle market today has shown that the hybrid cars’ sales figures have been continuously growing, though at a modest pace. The growth in the sales figures can be attributed to the hybrid cars’ successful penetration in Japan and in the U.S. Although in Europe, the sales figures have low percentages, but the positive thing is that the Toyota hybrid car sales have demonstrated a big increase at the end of the year. I will be touching on the specific sales figures in the different countries that were “touched” by these hybrid vehicles.
In the U.S. alone, the percentages of hybrid sales numbers during the past five years grew higher. As you are about to see, the trend keeps rising. The 9,500 sales numbers in the year 2000 increased into 88,000 sales in the year 2004. The end of the year 2005 showed over 50% increase in the number of hybrid vehicles on US roads. Steady growth has been observed as the year 2006 ended with an increase of 28% in the sales figures. 2007 sales increased by an estimated 35% at 345,000 hybrids. 2008 looks like it will be another record breaking year in hybrid sales. Out of all the hybrid car manufacturers, Toyota has emerged as the market leader wherein 76% of US hybrid sales were comprised by Toyota’s hybrid cars. In the European market, although the movement of hybrid car sales has been low as compared to other countries, there has been a good acceptance of the Toyota hybrid models.
Presently, with the gas prices soaring high again, more and more people are surely convinced that it is the right time to buy hybrid cars. Some are even making plans of selling their SUVs or any other normal cars to be able to get a hold of a hybrid car for themselves. Who can blame them? I mean, the best thing about switching into hybrid vehicles is that you don’t only get to be environmentally friendly, but save on gas at the same time. You will be able to get the excellence, efficiency and the quality that you are after if you purchase these special cars. Who wouldn’t want to experience these benefits? The hybrid cars are what I call the cars of the future. Go on, try driving one and discover the wonder of technology.
