Toyota is Going to Boost Production of the Prius by 60% for 2009
Toyota plans to ramp up production of the Prius by 60%. In 2007 they produced about 280,000 and by next year they expect to boost this number up to 450,000. Toyota realizes that hybrid cars are starting to become much more attractive to buyers with environmental concerns rising and gasoline prices going through the roof! They must have a good handle on what their future demands will be, as this is a substantial increase in production. Toyota plans to manufacturer over 500,000 hybrid vehicles next year. Last week when I was at a Toyota dealer the salesman told me that they currently can’t keep them in stock and I believe it. In California it’s getting to the point where every other car is a Prius!
