British Airways Goes With A Honda Civic Hybrid Fleet

Honda has reached an agreement with British Airways to supply over 100 new Civic Hybrids to their fleet. To date, this is one of the largest hybrid fleet contracts in the UK. British Airways had asked a short list of carmakers to submit a proposal for their new fleet, taking into consideration emissions throughout the cars life cycle, from the production of the vehicle to disposal. British Airways must have liked what Honda proposed to them.

According to Gary Meades, the environmental manager for British Airways, “Environmental performance was the key consideration in British Airways’ decision to invest in the new fleet”. He went on to say “The hybrid technology not only meets the highest environmental targets for vehicle emissions but will also deliver greater fuel efficiency.”

As more and more companies want to go green, to me it seems that in the next few years, instead of this being news, it will just be expected and you won’t even hear about it.

  1. I think that this is a great idea. When huge companies like British Airways do environmentally friendly thing such as purchasing 100 hybrids in this case, it inspires companies all over the world to do the same. I also agree with the fact that soon companies that are “going green” wont be that big of a deal. This will just have to become the norm and everyone will have to accept it.
