The shiatsu massage technique employs rhythmic, gradual pressure with the finger (Shi) and gentle, firm pressure (atsu) to specific points in the body which together is finger pressure. This 5,000 year old technique evolved from traditional Asian medicine. Finger pressure massage applies pressure to specific points in the body to help regulate the flow of energy in the body. The rhythmic finger movements include tapping, kneading and gripping which increases the energy flow and restores balance. Shiatsu also applies pressure to specific points in the body. Shiatsu helps in restoring balance and well being. Shiatsu can be performed gently or invigorating to bring deep relaxation and a tranquil natural balance.

Gentle pressure is applied to the acupressure points to induce relaxation and tranquility throughout the body. The shiatsu therapy can range from gentle or firm and use low or high pressure depending on the needs of the individual.

Do you want to know the signs of rotator cuff tears? In order to learn more about the symptoms, it is imperative to know what a rotator cuff is exactly. The rotator cuff makes a shoulder move, comprises tendons and muscles enabling the arm to move as well. It is connected a bone called humerus.

When the rotator cuff gets worn out due to some kind of accident, most likely the pain starts from a simple throbbing sensation or burning to the most unbearable. The pain and discomfort usually appears when the person moves the arm on the head. Lying down also becomes a burden for people with rotator cuff tears. Whatever the pain is, if it is somewhere on the shoulder, arm and down to the elbow are, chances are, it may be a rotator cuff injury.

The pain will happen all the time if the cuff is completely torn. In this case a person cannot swing their arm or move it from side to side or lift it up or down.

If you happen to notice a certain twitching on the shoulder, this can be a sign of a rotator cuff tear. There are times that the shoulder seems jammed or stuck. However, there are instances, that a person with a tear could not sense any discomfort at all. This may just be a slight tear, needing immediate attention. Most often than not, the slight tear becomes severe when not detected earlier. Whenever there is such discomfort, seek medical help. Early detection prevents further rotator cuff conditions.

Most rotator cuff injuries are brought about by certain accidents like a car mishap, abrupt stretching of the arm, falling from a high elevation or perhaps over strenuous arm activities like playing golf. When symptoms start to occur, attending to it immediately can save you from future distress.

Seek medical help immediately when you notice symptoms of a rotator cuff injury. To aid accuracy, a series of physical exams and check-up will help confirm the prognosis.

Flexibility and health go hand in hand. Sometimes, people fail to see that. But, it is completely true. For one thing, we all know how humans become when they age. Things don’t work as well, and many changes occur within the body.

People always look at the importance of eating right to maintain an overall healthy life. But, people don’t see the importance of stretching and being flexible. As we age, lack of exercise and lack of stretching, we tend to shrink.

In the end, the individual suffers in many ways, through muscle injuries and tightening up. Then, even the easiest tasks can become trying. For example, dressing oneself or combing/styling one’s hair becomes extremely difficult. But there is a multitude of flexibility promoting exercise is that you can partake in to benefit you and keep you trim and strong.

The important thing is that you find all these and work them into your everyday schedule. Even though exercise is extremely important, stretching is just as crucial. For one thing, when you start exercising, you should always stretch a little bit and warm up.

Regardless of that, maintaining your flexibility by stretching each day is absolutely crucial. In order to do so successfully, you’ll be able to find a multitude of such exercises pretty much anywhere you look, and they are good for any age.

Working on your posture should be one of your key goals. As time passes and as we age, our shoulders tend to come forward and we tend to slouch somewhat. That must be corrected if it has already begun, and if it has not, you must do everything to avoid it from happening.

These exercises should be followed properly in without rushing. Each targeted location must feel the pulling. By doing so, your posture will improve so you will maintain your height, avoid developing kinks, sore necks, etc.

Here are some great tips as to how you should go about this. Start by spreading your legs apart as you sit on the floor. Your exercises should include pointing the toes as well as flexing the foot, as this will stretch all the muscles. Lay on the floor and breathe properly until you are completely relaxed. This will help you stretch out the muscles in your torso. Your arms will benefit greatly by extending them above your head, tilting to the sides, and by reaching behind you.

For the top experience in relaxation and fun, you can try Surf Yoga on the Gold Coast of Australia. Gold Coast surfboard rentals provides top quality service and training for novices and experts as well.

Headaches can be a horrible thing to suffer from and all to many people deal with them on a daily basis. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) as many as 45 million Americans suffer from severe headaches.

This is a staggering number if you ask me! If you are one of these 45 million you know just how horrible it can be to suffer with headaches. The most common type of headache is the cervicogenic type headache. Cervicogenic means “to originate in the neck”. These headaches come from the bones, muscles and nerves of the neck itself.

In my practice in Bellevue Washington I have found that a major cause of cervicogenic headaches is misalignment or improper movement of the upper neck. If the bones in the upper part of the neck become misaligned this puts pressure and stress on the blood vessels, nerves, and joints of the neck. Taking a look at just the blood vessels, pressure can mean a decrease in blood flow to the brain. This is a bad thing! The one way that your body has to tell you that there is a problem is to give you headache.

A great analogy is if I were to put a rock in your shoe. Eventually this rock would give you a lot of pain in your foot. What do you do when this happens? That’s right, you take the rock out! The same is true for your headaches, in that your body is trying to tell you that there is a problem and you need to fix the cause of that problem.

There can be many reasons that a neck misalign’s, from car accidents to poor posture at your computer. Your headaches are a warning sign that there is something wrong in your body and that cause is what needs to be addressed. Here at Back in Action Chiropractic we have found that if your headaches are caused by spinal misalignment’s, we can treat these misalignment’s and take away or greatly reduce your pain.

So you think you're interested in knife fighting? You might have some of those glamorous Hollywood ideas about an action star holding a knife. Well, I'm here to burst your bubble.

So you think you’re interested in knife fighting? You might have some of those glamorous Hollywood ideas about an action star holding a knife. Well, I’m here to burst your bubble.

Have you ever killed another person in your life? If not, then please, please avoid even thinking about it. The first and best advice you’ll ever hear about knife fighting is to do everything in your power to avoid it. Both surviving a knife attack, or injuring another person with a knife, can be a life-scarring experience.

The second advice is don’t use the knife to intimidate or threaten anyone. There are serious consequences, especially if you become the initiator of the conflict. There are legal consequences too, if witnesses see that you were the first to pull out a deadly weapon.

Number three advice is, expect to get cut and expect to shed some blood. This is of course the hardest to prepare for, since you can’t deliberately cut yourself in the training gym. But it’s a psychological must if you ever get into a knife situation, lest you become stunned by the sight of blood.

If ever you must confront someone with a knife, the fourth thing to know is always have an advantageous default stance, that is, with your knife in front of you and your body behind it. But remember that by the time you do take this stance you have a commitment to really use the knife.

The fifth advice use all your weapons. You might think your knife is the only weapon you have, but you have so many others, such as your head for a head butt, your teeth for biting, elbows, knees, and your other hand for punching and grappling.

Number six advice is, and this is only if you really have to fight, have a good quality knife with you. Make sure it has a good grip. Go for functionality rather than appearance. Make sure it’s something that you won’t drop even if the opponent slashes your hand.

Number seven advice, and the last, know how to wield the knife in different ways. Ray Floro uses his signature reverse grip. Others prefer the hammer grip and the ice pick grip. There are grips which are weaker, which you have to use with caution.

Please remember that knife fighting is the darker side of life, and it would be a glad thing if you will never have to go there. Instead of thinking about knife fighting it’s better to be more productive in your chosen job or career, or enjoy life with your family. But if you’re ever forced to knife fight, then keep these pointers in mind.

Together with martial arts training, this writer likewise shows people how to get skinny, primarily how to get skinny thighs.

Whether you're a health and fitness enthusiast, bodybuilder or power lifter, or just trying to boost your competitive sports performance- safety ought to be the basis for any exercise program.

Whether you’re a health and fitness enthusiast, bodybuilder or power lifter, or just trying to boost your competitive sports performance- safety ought to be the basis for any exercise program.

The accompanying weightlifting safety factors are applicable regardless of whether you workout in your own home, a health and fitness club, a high school weightlifting room, or perhaps in the bowels of a bodybuilding gymnasium. Before you pick up that barbell or dumbbell, or park your body on that next piece of exercise equipment- you should familiarize yourself with the essential safety concepts involving weight-lifting.

Meanwhile with the physical fitness universe continually transforming and innovating, and athletes frequently fine tuning their own training, the one thing that should always remain constant is safety. We don’t simply recommend for you, but also for other people working out near you. Stick to these simple suggestions for lifting weights in addition to working out safer as well as minimizing the potential risk of injury to you or maybe other people exercising with or near you.

EXERCISE AREA AND TRAINING EQUIPMENT

- Make sure the equipment you use is definitely in good operational order.

- Use proper weightlifting techniques when ever transporting weights within the room, and always recognize other athletes near you so that you don’t interfere with their safety expectations or even cause them harm.

- Make certain pins are actually secure in the machine prior to each and every exercise, and that safety bars or catches are in location and correctly situated to be effective should you suffer a loss of command of the load(s).

- Be sure that there won’t be any objects in the way in the weight training location.

- Always wear proper athletic shoes to assure support, steadiness and effective footing throughout the entire performance of each and every exercise, along with safeguards for your toes and feet.

BOTH YOURSELF AND/OR YOUR PERSONAL EXERCISING PARTNER

- Most of the people should hold back until they happen to be no less than fourteen years of age before trying the serious lifts, for example the squat, dead lift, and bench press. At fourteen, generally athlete’s physiques seem to be fully developed as much as necessary for a majority of these compound exercise movements. The major lifts might cause injury if you lift significant weights without proper technique in addition to the help of spotters, especially if your muscles may not be fully developed amply to adequately heal from previous sessions.

- Locate a coach who can help you learn how to do the exercises properly. High-quality form is one of the most significant ways to steer clear of personal injury. A high school coach or fitness trainer can aid you. If a college is located in your town, the strength coach for their athletic squads may well be qualified to provide you guidance or even propose an additional instructor. Publications, Videos and video lessons can help, although nothing surpasses individual coaching from a properly accredited trainer.

- Warm-up and cool down for each training session. Your warm-up procedure previous to lifting weights should incorporate stretching exercises, a few light calisthenics and/or aerobic exercises to warm up your muscle tissue with sufficient blood flow. Any time you commence any weight training exercise, work with small quantities of weight initially after which you’ll advance to more heavy loads. Mild stretching out and additional cardio work are also very important during your cool down to clear your muscle tissue of waste byproducts built up during your vigorous exercise routine.

- Prior to executing an exercise movement, be sure of proper technique. Your success in working out will depend to a large degree upon the proper technique associated with the exercise movements. If you are undertaking an exercise for the first time- use a light amount of weight and concentrate on your form along with technique to start with, prior to using serious amounts of weight.

- Always employ additional protection accessories like: safety gloves, lifting belts with regard to heavy lifting, wrist/bar straps to assist with proper grip, and even joint wraps or braces meant for fragile or recouping joints- usually lower back, elbows, knees wrists or ankles.

- Never lift substantial weight loads when not having spotters, safety racks or Smith-type machines that will manage or isolate the load should you should lose control or possibly endure a physical injury during the range of motion.

- Never move more than you are already aware you can actually lift safely as this could harm to you or others surrounding you if you should lose control of the weight(s).

WORKOUT PERFORMANCE AND EXECUTION

- Make sure you assume proper weightlifting form. When ever moving free weights from the floor, make certain that the toes are in close proximity to the workout bar, the hips lowered in a squat stance, the head is upward, and the back is in a straight line. Always lift aided by the legs and never the lower back.

- While engaging in resistance exercise movements, you should always manage the motion involving the weight in all phases of the lift. What this means is keeping control of the movement while working along with gravity and also against gravity.

- Work with as much weight as is possible without sacrificing proper technique. Your technique is actually of great significance in any training being performed in order to properly work the target muscle groups, and grow in the direction of heavier weight resistance.

- Never “‘cheat’” against your technique simply to exercise with heavier weights than you can properly plus safely handle because this might lead to injury or perhaps negate the aim on that muscle group by simply recruiting various other non-targeted muscles in order to help out in moving the weight.

- Adopt an ideal progression of weight advancement for any single exercise. Refrain from the temptation to see just how much you can lift. Whenever an excessive focus lies on the actual amount of pounds being used, the result is almost always a decrease in form and good quality technique, and as a result- safety.

- Free weight should not be moved on the rebound, or “bounced” off one’s body. Be in control and also lift through a total range of flexibility. The weight needs to be managed plus moved smoothly and gradually having a distinct pause and muscle contract during the work part in all movements, and even towards the bottom or start off position.

- Do not breathe in and out quickly or simply hold your breath at the time you lift heavy loads. You may faint and also lose management of the weights. Exhale out slow and therefore controlled while you perform the lift.

- Give full attention to your exercises while engaging in them as well as the specific muscular areas you’re exercising. You should not carry on a conversation at the same time. Don’t simply “go through the motions”- it’s essential to continue to keep focus on safety when executing the exercise movement.

Being in prime physical shape will not exclusively help prolong your life- it could actually help to make every day life more enjoyable as well as productive.

This piece of fitness equipment is a complete workout device and an alternative for heavier training equipment and local gym fees. The device itself is attached to practically any door and works using elasticated rubber bands which provide resistance. With the body by Jake Tower 200 most kinds of exercises and weight repetitions are performed at different levels depending on how fit one is.

Attaching the kit to the door is a straight forward process. If done correctly there should be no damage to the door even during the heavy workouts. The exercise frame should be attached to the inside of the door, or depending on the doors design it should be fitted in such a way as if the door is pulled closed when exercising. This is so all the stress is placed on the door and frame leaving the hinges and screws free to perform their designed function.

Included with the device are instructions on 200 exercises that can be performed and a DVD for workouts. The DVD includes routines that last only 11 minutes and target a specific muscle group. If one can perform an 11 minute workout a few times a week the results should be good for weight-loss and toning up. These kits are perfect for a busy lifestyle and for those who have little time to prepare for lengthy workouts.

The range of exercises and muscle groups that can be worked on is amazing. All muscle groups can be targeted with pulls, pushes, lunges, hip rotations on the ground or standing. Almost all weight and regular exercises can be replicated. Whilst maybe not as effective as dedicated machines for some of these exercises the convenience, small space, and ease of use adds real value.

The difficulty of the exercises can be increased in increments as the user gets stronger. The resistance and intensity can be increased with the different powers of the elastic bands. The color coded elastics have different forces required to manipulate them needing 25 – 45 pounds respectively. This can be added together and combined for the strongest of workouts.

This device is suitable for any gender, shape or size of person. Especially useful to the person with little time to pop off to the gym or unwilling to pay for the few opportunities that they are able. This device when installed is instantly operable, and it can be Incorporated easily into the daily routine. Perfect after waking up before hopping in the shower.

The DVD itself is hosted by top MMA fighter Randy Couture. While a professional fighter comments on the DVD this workout is more suitable for the average worker who needs quick exercises to slot into a busy routine. In some cases it will be more effective than more expensive dedicated training equipment.

To summarize the body by Jake Tower 200 is an all round exercise unit quick and easy to install anywhere there is a door. Affordable whilst providing a serious work-out it is a serious competitor to extortionate gym fees and other electronic devices. Other devices will seriously degrade free space in a house or room and may not be popular with fellow residents. This piece of kit can be kept personal, private and out of the way.

Many people that participate in sports like to wear headphones so they can listen to their favorite music while having no distractions. Music is motivational. It can get you psyched up for a practice or that big rivalry game. When selecting the best sport headphones, look for certain things.

If you want to get a good pair of headphones for yourself so you can listen to your favorite music as you workout or play, you need to look for a few things. You have to make sure that they are a good fit and won’t move around on you or pop out of your ears. This will cause unnecessary distractions while you are moving around.

You are also going to want to make sure that as you are working out, the sound quality is very good and it is going to be loud enough. You aren’t wanting to listen to outside noises with your music. In addition, you are going to have to make sure that your headphones are sweat proof.

Athletes move around a lot. They move quickly. Sharp turns with starts and stops. Your headphones need to be durable and solid. They should not be made of cheap plastic. Being sturdy is one of the best attributes of the best sport headphones.

Runners like their headphones to be smaller and to fit in their ears. You want them to be light so you are not carrying around extra weight while you run. If you are a runner that likes to run in cold weather, then buy some that are small enough to fit under a stocking cap.

Headphones now come with another good feature that benefits those who participate in sports. This would be volume and other music controls built right into the cord. This keeps the athlete from reaching down to the music device such as an Ipod, MP3 players etc.

The cord needs to be long enough so that it is not stretching from the headphones themselves to the music device. If it is too long, then you will have problems with your range of movement such that your arms and legs can become tangled up in the cord. Just make sure you have good movement range without too much slack.

Selecting the best sport headphones may take a little trial and error. But, what is most important is that they are right for you. You are wanting to have great sound with as much comfort as possible, and you are wanting to have one that is very sturdy and sweat proof.
